Mono Lake, Ca
The Lake is very salty, in fact it is 3x more salty then the sea. The only living things are a special species of shimp that like that kind of salty water. There is also a lot of black flies that hang around the lake edge, they was there when I was there. Mono Lake is just south of Bodie ghost town, on US395. It is a great place to visit after Bodie ghost town. Mono Lake is a very large, shallow, alkaline lake. These pics was taken after Bodie, around 4:00 pm 7th of July, 2003. Taken with 1Ds and 24 mm to 70 mm zoom lenses.

Mono Lake has all these rocks and alkaline points around the lake.

There use to be more water there, but a lot of the water, from streams, got transfer to Southern California. The lake was not getting fresh water, so that is why the lake is so
alkaline. There was a big fuss over it and now water is not being transfer to Southern California.
